Highwater Drapes

One of my biggest pet peeves is a curtain panel that stops too short of the floor.  I bought some ready made panels for my 10 year old's bedroom, but they were standard 84 inch panels. My house has extremely high ceilings so they needed some adjusting. If you are having this same problem, here is what you do. I forgot to take a before pic, so here is a pic with one panel finished and one undone.

Don't you love the highwater on the right!

I truly took the lazy girl route and left them hanging while doing this project. I just live dangerously like that!

I just cut a piece of red fabric plus 8.5 inches longer than needed and 6 inches wider. Lay the fbric right sides together and just stitch it together. Iron open the seam. On each side fold over a double 1.5 inch hem. You can either use fabric glue or any other bonding method, or just stitch down the side. When I do custom panels I hand stitch or blind hem the sides, but remember, this is just the lazy girls method today. Ha!  The bottom hem is a double 4 inch hem, and you can secure it the same way as the sides.
To cover up the seam where the red meets the stripes, I just used an adhesive and stuck some ric rac right there.
Here is the final product. Hope you like it.

Before and After - Window Treatments

This was the last job I did in Atlanta. I was sewing the day before the movers came when I should have been cleaning my basement. Oh well, it all turned out fine and these windows turned out beautifully.

Now here is the after

Sorry about the photos. These were shot with my phone, befor I got my new cannon.

You Gotta Love a Good Gusher!

Well they are finally DONE. I feel like I have been sewing these cushions for years. Not really, but almost. It is the summer and all the kids are home from school, so finding time to sew without interruptions is almost impossible. But, I did it.

My client was thrilled. I guess she couldn't picture what they were going to look like. She told me she thought they would look like any old seat cushion you get at a large discount store. I told her CUSTOM is just that, CUSTOM. No one else will have the exact one. They were made to fit her chairs specifically. I love it when a client gushes over how lovely everything is. Not really because I like the praise, but because I truly want them to enjoy what is in their home. I have had people not like the final result even though they had a picture of what it would look like. It is not a good feeling . And then there are the times when you just don't know if they like it or not. So for all of you who ever have any kind of work done, be is design or just a good haircut, go ahead and gush. Tell them you love it. It will make someone's day to know you are going to enjoy what was done for you. This is the whole look. Custom valances and Cushions.
