Weekend in Atlanta

I had a great time in Atlanta visiting with friends and family this past weekend. One of the main reasons I went was to get my hair done. I know vain right. But I LOVE my hairdresser. I'm scared to go somewhere else because I've had many bad cuts and don't want to go there again. I made it a point to go the second weekend so I could go to Scott's. I've never been on a Thursday before, but it was great. I only had an hour and a half, so I was running through the buildings. I only took a couple of pics, but here they are.

I ate lunch with some girlfriends at a cute little cafe called Mac's Bake Shop. They had delicious food. I had the grilled cheese and collard green sandwich. So YUMMY!!! I thought  the light fixture was the cutest.

One of the highlights of my weekend was meeting  Rhoda from Southern Hospitality. She was very sweet and gracious even though I'm sure she gets recognized all the time. I accosted her while fabric shopping at Forsyth Fabrics. Go check out her blog, you'll be inspired daily.

House Tour-Foyer

This is our new house. We are renting, but hopefully it will be a long term rental.

I'm finally starting to get things put away and making it a home. Here are a couple of pics of the foyer.

Update

Much has happened around here since Christmas. We moved AGAIN! I'm hoping that was it for a few years. We're still in Jax, but just closer to where we have to be everyday. I was spending 3 hours in the car everyday driving my boys back and forth to school. It was too much. Now we live in the historic neighborhood of Avondale. The houses here are gorgeous. Here's a little sampling of houses in my new neighborhood.

We can walk to lots of cute boutiques and fabulous restaurants.

We're so happy in our new diggs. Our house was built in the 1920s and used to be a boarding house. We are just renting here, but hope it will be somewhat long term. Moving is the pits and next time will hopefully be a corporate move. I'm done with hauling boxes. Stay tuned for some sewing, decorating and crafty projects as I turn this rental into a home.  

Snowman Tree

I went out after Christmas shopping to get a white tree just so I could make a snowman tree next year for my kids like the one I've seen on Pinterest. Then I was on Facebook and one of my friends made a snowman tree with here regular green tree. Look how cute!

Wreath Project

I made this wreath for my dear niece. She had seen one that I made for a baby shower here and wanted one. I made it to match her bedroom. 

Hudson's New Room

I don't have a before shot, because this room was totally empty, so just use your imagination.

Hudson is my oldest.He loves dogs, but he is about to be a teenager so I tried to make his room a little more grown up but still kid friendly. All the furniture is from Ikea, except for the bed. The dresser and the nightstand are from the Hemnes line. I really like the look of this line. It reminds me of Pottery Barn, but without the price.

I still need to make an upholstered headboard, but I wanted to show my progress thus far.

I bought ready made panels, and I'm hoping to get some trim to spruce them up a bit.

My favorite thing in this room is this abstract dog canvas that I got at Homegoods for $50. It looks like it belongs in a teenager's room to me. Hope you enjoyed this tour of Hudson's new room!
